Sister Courage

"'Sister Courage' was not a speech, it was a conversation, a story-telling, a wake-up call and an inspiration."--Joan Gerberding, Founder, Mentoring and Inspiring Women in Radio
Sexual and Reproductive Justice: A Public Health Imperative
I've given so many permutations of this speech that it is almost impossible to offer a representative sample. And it changes daily with each new change in politics, technology, and social and family trends. That's why it's always fascinating and fun to create a custom speech for your group.

"What an absolutely perfect visit, from dinner to the lectureship. There has been a real buzz around here, both from those who went and those who couldn't and are waiting to view it on the web."--Dean Max Michael, University of Alabama School of Public Health
"Gloria Feldt's thought provoking presentation challenged our UMass students to take action for social justice on reproductive health issues. Her inspiring vision, passion, and commitment energized the audience!"--Eileen Breslin, Dean of Nursing, University of Massachusetts Amherst (See "Speaker Calls for Public Health Crusaders" in the Daily Collegian)
Send Yourself Roses
Gloria Feldt talks about risks, personal growth, and what it means to be a woman.
Program Description: "Gloria Feldt has collaborated with famed actress Kathleen Turner on Send Yourself Roses, Thoughts on My Life, Loves and Leading Roles, a book that is especially interesting to women of all ages. This courageous memoir tells the story of a woman whose life is enviable not because of her fame but because of her determination and integrity; it tells us of the risks she’s taken and the lessons she’s learned, sometimes the hard way.
Kathleen Turner's memoir is a bouquet that any woman – single or married – would be happy to catch. Gloria Feldt is a dynamic speaker who will stimulate your thoughts and will reach you on a very personal level."
WomenGirlsLadies
A Fresh Intergenerational Conversation
"Young women think empowerment means short skirts and high heels! They don’t know the history of the women’s movement, or what’s still at stake."
Sound familiar? Too often finger-pointing statements like these are declared by seasoned activists or exchanged in emails between younger women. With all the injustices yet to be challenged, it isn't time women of all ages talked and listened to one another instead of rehashing the same complaints in isolation?
To spark dialogue about women’s lives, power, entitlement, and the future of feminism from a generational perspective, I've teamed up with Kristal Brent Zook, Courtney E. Martin, and Deborah Siegel—who along with me, Gloria Feldt, are four diverse, feminist authors representing generations from Generation Y to pre-Baby Boomer. As you can see, we kinda like each other, but that doesn't keep us from arguing vigorously from time to time. (L-R: Debbie, Kristal, Gloria, Courtney)

And here's the Harvard Crimson's report of our Women's History Month panel, entitled "Four Feminists Take on Harvard", followed by the Jewish Women's Archive blog, Jewesses with Attitude's rendition called "'WomenGirlsLadies'...Fishnets, Food, and Feminism."
The students and faculty of the Elizabeth Somer's Women's Leadership Program, students and faculty, attended the WomenGirlsLadies panel recently. To a person we felt that this panel provided us with lenses into the many views of feminism and equality for women. The panelists presented extremely engaging, clear, direct and often extremely personal accounts of their positions. Most importantly, during the question and answer period, the panelists listened to the questions from the audience, challenged the students to answer their own questions and push themselves to a deeper level of thinking about the subject. This was an outstanding evening and one that we would enjoy repeating.
--Shelly Heller, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, George Washington University Mount Vernon Campus
