June 19 was Kathleen's birthday. Check out Els' birthday wishes below in the comments section while you're posting your own. And savor my description of the amazing tamalada Zarela threw for Kathleen to celebrate her day.

After Martha...from Broadway World:

Kathleen Turner announced today on WNYC's "The Brian Lehrer Show," stage and screen star that, "You know what, I just yesterday was offered a new play on Broadway for the fall, which I'm extremely excited about. It's the new Albee play called Me, Myself and I, so we're hoping to bring it in the fall to Broadway, and I'm really thrilled with it."

"Me, Myself and I" had its premiere this past winter at the McCarter Theatre in Princeton, New Jersey. Press notes describe the play as ""When a pair of identical twin brothers are both named Otto, how's a mother supposed to keep them straight? Master playwright Edward Albee is in top form with this dark, funny and moving play that takes sibling rivalry to existential heights."albee%20and%20turner.jpg

My husband Alex says he has never seen me fawn over anyone like I did over Edward Albee when I first met him at Kathleen's Christmas party. Well, I've never met anyone who can write like he does, I replied.

Kathleen was in Wales for the Hay Literary Festival the week of May 26. Yes, that was Kathleen hitchhiking to get breakfast for her daughter and herself.

Turner lived in London as a teenager where she found her love of acting

Actress Kathleen Turner has spoken movingly at the Hay Festival about her respect for her late diplomat father.

His work meant she was a teenager in London, where she gained her love of acting, but she long feared their cross words contributed to his heart attack.

But she had later accepted her mother's advice he had in fact been laughing.

She also told how she had hitched a lift into the Powys town with a member of the laughing audience - who failed to recognise her...read the full article.

A Woman of Substance

If the word 'feisty' comes to mind, well, those were the least of Turner's exploits. Send Yourself Roses, coauthored by Turner and writer Gloria Feldt, tells the story of a woman whose life is enviable not because of her fame but because of her determination and integrity.

It isn't brand new, but this excerpt from the Daily Mail is quite well done and worth a read. Check it out!

CATV rates SYR one of the year's "Five Must-Read Celebrity Memoirs".
Here's what they said: Kathleen Turner: Real-life juice

"I think Kathleen Turner's recent memoir was quite good," says Kevin Howell, bookselling editor at Publishers Weekly in New York. A New York Times bestseller, "Send Yourself Roses: Thoughts on my Life, Love, and Leading Roles" scored unanticipated hype earlier this year after Nicolas Cage filed suit against Turner. The actress claimed that Cage had been arrested on DUI charges twice and stole a Chihuahua. Turner has since publicly apologized to Cage.

In fact, Turner's fearless revelations about her life -- and the real cause behind her bloated, shaky appearance of recent years -- make this book such a winner.

Why Send Yourself Roses? “Before an opening performance, when I am feeling like I really need an affirmation, I’ll send myself a big bouquet of roses. Why should I wait around and hope that someone else will send me roses? If someone does, I will receive them with pleasure. But if no one does, I won’t have to be blue,”
